How it works
How to Calculate PLI Maturity Amount
PLI policies earn a simple reversionary bonus on the sum assured for every completed year. The PLI calculator maturity amount is therefore the sum assured plus the bonus accumulated over the policy.
maturity amount = sum assured + bonus
After you calculate, use the PLI journey slider to see what the policy is worth in any year, and when your bonus overtakes the premiums you have paid.
Example: a ₹10,00,000 Santosh policy taken at age 30 and maturing at 60 runs for 30 years. At ₹52 per ₹1,000, the bonus is 1,000 × 52 × 30 = ₹15,60,000, so the maturity amount is ₹25,60,000.
Santosh (endowment)
Pays sum assured plus bonus at the maturity age you choose, or to the nominee on death during the term.
Suraksha (whole life)
Premium stops at the age you choose. Cover continues, and the sum plus bonus is paid at death or on reaching age 80.
Sumangal (money back)
20% of the sum assured is paid back in three instalments during the term. The balance 40% plus total bonus is paid at maturity.

Suraksha values show the amount payable if the claim happens after the stated number of years.
Chart values are estimates. Premium is not included because it depends on your age, term and plan.

PLI Tax Benefits, Loans and Alternatives
Under the old tax regime, premiums paid on a PLI policy can qualify for an income tax deduction, and maturity or death proceeds are generally tax-exempt, subject to the conditions in income tax law. Tax rules and section numbers change, so please confirm with a tax professional.
Santosh and Suraksha policies can get a loan or be surrendered after a minimum period of 3 to 4 years, depending on the plan. Sumangal does not allow loans or surrender. Questions
PLI Calculator FAQs
What is a PLI calculator?
A PLI calculator estimates the maturity amount, bonus and returns of a Postal Life Insurance policy from your age, sum assured, term and bonus rate.
How do I calculate the PLI maturity amount?
Divide the sum assured by 1,000, multiply by the bonus rate and the number of years, then add the sum assured. For ₹5,00,000 at ₹52 for 20 years, the bonus is ₹5,20,000 and the maturity amount is ₹10,20,000.
How does the Santosh PLI calculator work?
Santosh is the endowment plan. Choose Santosh, enter your entry age, the maturity age and the sum assured. The calculator multiplies the bonus rate by the years until maturity and adds it to the sum assured.
Is this the official India Post PLI calculator?
No. This is an independent estimator. For exact premium quotes and policy details, use the official PLI portal of India Post or visit your nearest post office.
What is the current PLI bonus rate in 2026?
For FY 2026-27 (effective 1 April 2026), the declared rates are ₹76 per ₹1,000 sum assured for whole life (Suraksha, and Suvidha until it is converted), ₹52 for endowment, joint life and children policies (Santosh, Yugal Suraksha, Bal Jeevan Bima), and ₹48 for Sumangal. India Post announces new rates every financial year, so change the rate in the calculator if a new one is declared.
Does this calculator show the premium?
You can enter your own monthly premium and the calculator will show total premium paid, net gain and an estimated yearly return. It does not predict premium because rates depend on your age, term and plan.
Is there a PLI calculator app?
You do not need to install anything. This page works in any mobile browser, and you can add it to your phone’s home screen for quick access.
Is there an SBI or Groww PLI calculator?
PLI is run by India Post, not by SBI or Groww. Any PLI calculator on other websites is an estimator, just like this one. Always confirm figures with India Post.
What is the maximum sum assured in PLI?
The maximum sum assured is ₹50 lakh and the minimum is ₹20,000 for Santosh and Suraksha.
Is the PLI maturity amount tax free?
Generally yes, subject to the conditions in income tax law. Tax rules and section numbers change over time, so please check with a tax professional for your case.
Are the calculator results guaranteed?
No. Bonus rates are declared by India Post for each financial year and can change. The result is an estimate based on the rate you enter. A terminal bonus may also be added on long policies.
Is there a discount for paying the PLI premium in advance?
Yes. Paying the premium 6 months in advance earns a 1% rebate, and paying 12 months in advance earns a 2% rebate.
